Built with the Unreal Development Kit, Grimoire is a free multiplayer MOBA-like shooter featuring six customizable classes with thousands of possible spell loadouts. Developed by a small team, with a limited budget it has 250k+ owners on Steam

As a co-creator I was involved in nearly all aspects of development with a main focus on game and level design.

Built with Unreal Engine 5, the Gameplay Ability System, and Marketplace Assets this is an unreleased sequel to the first game as well as a learning project. It has 8 character classes, 6 enemy AI classes, 10 customizable abilities, and two fully functional game modes. An alpha build is available upon request.

As the sole developer I’ve created everything except the art assets. This includes engineering, level design, game design, UI/UX design, animation setup, and a dozen other areas. This project has been a huge learning experience and has allowed me to become a well rounded developer.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened

Created using Unreal Engine 4, Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is a remake of the original Dungeon Defenders. It combines Co-Op Tower Defense gameplay with epic Action RPG combat.

As a Game Designer I’ve worked on systems, heroes, enemies, bosses, enemy schedules, code investigations, maps, game modes, balance, and much more.

Dungeon Defenders: Going Rogue

Created using Unreal Engine 4, Dungeon Defenders: Going Rogue is a Roguelite twist on the Dungeon Defenders franchise. It combines Roguelite, Tower Defense, and Action RPG gameplay into a fast paced and unique experience in the company’s catalog.

My work was across many different parts of the game from initial conception to its current version with a huge update coming soon. I was a part of designing Game Modes, Runes, Item Effects, Weapons, Heroes, Maps, and Enemy Schedules. However, my favorite feature that I was the product owner on was the three new Boss fights which were very well received by the community.

Unreal Engine

All 9+ years of my game development career has been in the Unreal Engine. I have experience in UDK, UE3, UE4, and UE5. However, Unreal Engine 4 using the Gameplay Ability System is where I have spent the most time with professional experience at Chromatic Games working on Dungeon Defenders: Awakened and Going Rogue. In addition I’ve consistently worked on a solo personal project called Grimoire 2 for fun and to increase my understanding of the engine.

Through all of these projects and various courses I have developed a strong understanding of all game and level design related areas of the engine. I am very comfortable using Blueprints, the Gameplay Ability System, and also have a solid understanding of UE4 C++.

Programming

I have been studying C++ on my own for fun and as a way to help develop my solo project. I feel confident understanding code and the knowledge gained while studying programming has given me a much better understanding of best practices, designing features, and helped with realistic scoping of design goals as well as debugging.
